RECIPES DIY PARENTING KIDS CRAFTS MAKE MONEY AT HOME
As much as we all strive to follow the latest fad diets and workout regimes to help us shed excess body weight so we can look and feel our best, many of us don’t have the time or willpower to stick to our goals 100% of the time. And that’s completely okay! In order to live our best lives, we need to find a happy balance. Not all of us were meant to be a size 00, and the sooner we accept this and learn to love the bodies we’re in, the happier we’ll be.
So, whether you’re a voluptuous, plus-sized woman with a sexy hour-glass figure, a broad-shouldered gal with next to no curves, or a petite Colleen who’s fallen off track with her weight loss goals and feels bloated and swollen, we’re sharing 12 simple ideas to help you learn how to dress to look thinner and call out your most attractive features.
1. Wear the correct size clothing.
Contrary to what you might believe, wearing clothes that are a size bigger or a size smaller doesn’t always make you look slimmer. Larger size clothing is likely to make you look bigger than you are, and smaller size clothing can bring attention to problem areas like a muffin top, cellulite, or back fat, so always opt for clothing that fits true to your size.
2. Choose correctly fitted undergarments
When it comes to finding clothes that make you look slimmer, the correct size undergarments are just as important as your outfit. If your panties are tight on you, they can make rolls, muffin tops and cellulite show through your clothing. If you wear a bra that’s tight on you, it can draw attention to back fat. Make sure to get properly fitted so you look better in your outfits and feel more confident.
3. Invest in shapewear.
To create a thin looking appearance, consider investing in a piece of shapewear for the area that you want to target. Shapewear, for instance, from a top brand like Spanx, is designed and created with the purpose of smoothing out the body and making us look slimmer. It can flatten your tummy, make your thighs look slim, and give your butt a lift. You can find several different styles that can meet your needs here.
4. Define Your Waist
If you want to dress to look slimmer, adjust your clothing and wear styles that define your waist. This helps to make it look like you have an hourglass figure with curves in the right places. For example, you can tuck loose-fitting shirts into pants and skirts, cinch dresses with a belt, and choose high waisted pants and skirts that are made with structured fabrics.
5. Wear one color head to toe
A great trick to look long and lean is to wear one color head to toe. Wearing all one color creates an uninterrupted vertical line that draws the eye up and down and makes you look taller and slimmer.
If you think dressing all in one color might be boring, you can make it more interesting. You can vary the color slightly from head to toe, or create dimension by mixing textures.
6. Avoid pleated skirts and dresses.
Pleats that fall from the waistband of skirts, dresses and pants create volume. While pleats can be sexy and feminine, since they sit on your hips and tummy, they will highlight your hips and tummy. Some pleats can create bulk and add volume to your frame. So if you’re looking for clothes that make you look slimmer, it may be best to avoid peats altogether.
7. Choose boot cut jeans over skinny jeans.
If you want to draw attention away from your tummy and thighs, swap your skinny jeans with bootcut jeans that will add height to your frame. Choose dark-washed jeans with a high waist, with a pair of pointy-toed shoes or boots to ensure that the bottom of the jeans hits your shoes for maximum effect.
8. Avoid light-colored jeans and pants.
Light-colored jeans and pants can make your legs look thicker, so if your blessed with big thighs, choose darker colors as they have a slimming effect.
9. Wear V-neck tops.
The inverted triangle of a V-neck helps to elongate your upper body by adding balance to your hips and thighs. If you don’t own clothes with V-necks, you can simply unbutton your shirts and blouses to a V, but make sure to pull the sides wide open for a true V-neck.
10. Use Accessories
Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and belts can draw attention away from problem areas. A long necklace can elongate in the same way a V-neck does. It adds length to the upper body and also takes attention away from the hips. Big earrings draw attention away from the upper body and towards the face and big bracelets draws attention away from big upper arms by bringing the eye towards the wrist, and belts can define the waist.
11. Avoid round toe shoes
While they can be cute, round toe shoes can make legs look shorter and stumpy. Opt for pointed toe shoes which help elongate your legs and make them look longer than they are.
12. Avoid horizontal prints
It’s no secret horizontal stripes can make us appear wider, so it’s a good idea to stay away from them. Instead, wear clothing with vertical stripes, which elongate your body and make you look slimmer.
