10 Tips to Make Your Hair Grow Faster

There are a number of factors that play a role in how fast your hair grows. so of which, you cannot change. However, there are some steps that a person can take to improve their hair growth and hair appearance. This post looks at some ways a person can speed up their hair growth, from improving their diet, changing how often you use your hair dryer to limiting chemical treatments. Here are 10 tips to try to improve the health of your hair.

1. Get regular trims
It may seem counterproductive if you want your hair to grow longer, but getting regular trim gets rid of split ends and are necessary for healthy hair growth. When left untreated, split ends can work up the hair shaft and cause even more breakage. A good rule of thumb for healthy hair is to get it trimmed every 6 to 8 weeks to help prevent split ends and promote healthy hair growth.

2. Don’t shampoo too often
Washing your hair can strip your hair of its natural oils, which can make it dry and brittle and even breakage. Your hair’s natural oils are essential to hydrate and repair itself, which it needs for healthy hair growth. Washing your hair just a few times a week helps to keep your hair clean and healthy.

3. Use a Silk Pillowcase
If you’re using a cotton pillowcase, the cotton can be causing breakage since it creates friction between your hair and the pillowcase. On the other hand, silk fabric reduces friction and lets your hair glide easily, helping to prevent damage.

4. Cut back on heat styling
Blow dryers, curling irons, and straighteners can damage your  by making it dry and brittle, which can lead to breakage and shorter hair length. If you’re tying to grow your hair, air-dry your hair when possible. When you do use these products, keep the setting low when styling your hair. Before styling your hair, apply a heat- or thermal-protection product on your hair before using a styling tool. Use a leave-in conditioner which can add an extra layer of protection to your hair and help prevent and repair damage.

5. Limit chemical treatments
Chemical hair treatments like coloring, highlighting, and perms  can damage your hair and make it dry and fragile and lead to breakage and stunt hair growth. Try to limit treatments as much as possible and avoid washing your hair for at least 48 hours when strands are most porous and likely to split. Use a deep conditioner to keep your hair hydrated and nourished. You can also use coconut oil as it can penetrate the cuticle to repair the damage.

6. Hydrate your hair
Conditioner is essential to healthy and strong hair and should be included in your hair care routine. Conditioner adds a protective coating to hair that helps prevent breakage. It also adds moisture to your hair that helps to repair it. You should also consider a hair mask which is a deep conditioning hair treatment and contains more nourishing ingredients than a daily hair conditioner.

7. Massage your scalp
A scalp massage can help stimulate blood flow which can help promote hair growth. A scalp message can also relieve tension and help you relax, which can impact hair growth.Take a few minutes while shampooing to gently massage your scalp to increase blood circulation, relieve stress and stimulate and strengthen hair follicles.

8. Eat a healthy and balanced diet
Just as a healthy and balanced diet is beneficial for your body, it’s just as beneficial for healthy and beautiful hair. Your hair is mostly made up of protein, so in addition to fruits and vegetables, a diet rich in protein-rich foods, like poultry, eggs, fish, nuts, and more, is important. Another vitamin beneficial to hair is biotin, strengthens hair through its metabolism of fats, carbs and proteins. Biotin-rich foods include sweet potatoes, broccoli, avocados, bananas, and more.

9. Be careful when towel drying
Your hair is more vulnerable when wet, so rubbing your hair dry with a regular towel after a shower can cause a lot of breakage. Instead of rubbing your hair, gently squeeze the excess water out of your hair. Or, consider using a microfiber towel or which are softer than regular towels.

10. Consider hair growth supplements
Let me preface that I recommend talking to your doctor before taking any of these supplements. Vitamins for hair aren’t regulated by the FDA, which means that they can contain any ingredient they want and can claim anything they want. You’ll also want to make sure any supplements won’t interact with any medications you’re taking.

If you eat a well-balanced diet, your body should already be getting the vitamins and minerals that your hair needs. And, doubling your intake won’t make a difference, since your body keeps what it needs and gets rid of the rest.

But, if you don’t eat a balanced diet, you may not be getting a sufficient amount of nutrients that your body needs to grow long, healthy hair. If so, consider taking supplements that benefit hair. Again, talk to your doctor before taking any of these these.
