17 Ways to Save at Michaels

For the artist in all of us, Michaels is a craft lover’s dream. While you’ll always find great deals at the store already. There are still other ways to save even more when you shop there. Check out these 17 ways that you can save on all your craft supplies.

1. Take the phone survey.
Take the phone survey on your receipt to get a 25% off or a $5 off coupon. At the end of the survey, you’ll get a number to write on your receipt. The next time you shop at Michaels, bring the receipt with you to get $5 off your next $25 purchase, or 25% off your regular price purchase.

2. Sign up for the mailing list.
Sign up for Michaels mailing list and be the first to know about exclusive offers, new products, coupons and more.

3. They take competitors coupons.
Is there a Hobby Lobby, Jo-Ann’s or A.C. Moore near you. If those stores have a coupon out for single items, such as 50% off one regularly priced item (they won’t honor the entire purchase coupons), take it with you to Michaels.

Of course you should make sure that Michaels doesn’t have a better coupon out themselves.

4. Download the app.
Download the Michaels app so you find coupons and locate an item to see if it’s on sale. You can even find what you’re looking for with their product locator map.

5. Sign up to receive text alerts.
I highly recommend to sign up for these because they send out some of the best coupons to those who choose to receive them.

6. Get their rewards card.
With their free rewards program, you get exclusive offers delivered straight to your inboxes. You get members-only event invites where you can meet, mingle and craft with other like-minded members AND you get special shopping hours!

And as an added bonus, No Receipt Needed for returns. Simply take the item you want to return, and as long as you told them about your rewards membership when you made the purchase, they will be able to look that purchase up for you.

7. Know when to shop.
Michaels almost always offers 40% or 50% off one regular-priced item throughout the week. A couple of times a month, they’ll offer 20% off your entire purchase coupon—including sale prices.

8. Follow them on social media.
Get connected with them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for advance notice of sales and coupons. And make sure to check out their craft ideas that they share.

9. They price match.
If a competitor has a lower advertised price on an identical item, all you need to do is take that ad with you and the cashier will adjust the price right there at the register?

10. Don’t overlook the dollar bins—or grab bags!
In the center aisles, you’ll find bins filled with all kinds of $1, $2 or $5 items. These bins change frequently and can be goldmines.

Also, make sure to keep an eye out for their seasonal grab bags. The only drawback is that you can’t open the bags in the store to see what’s inside—but I’ve never been disappointed.

11. Teachers, military and seniors can get a 10-15% discount.
The key here is to only use your Michael’s discount when you’d save more than using a coupon. You can’t combine a coupon with these discounts. And exclusions apply.

Teacher discount: 15% on classroom-related items.
Military discount: 15% entire purchase every day.
Senior discount: 10% off entire purchase every day (65 years and older).

12. You can use multiple coupons.
Michael’s limits you to one coupon of each type per day, but you can still use multiple different coupons on any given day.

13. Check out their weekly ad.
Check out the weekly ad online for deals that are good through the week.

14. Use the store locator.
To find even more coupons at your local Michaels, visit the Coupons section of Michaels.com and put in your zip code for up-to-date offer at the stores nearest you.

15. Stop by the front aisle.
As soon as you enter a Michaels store, you’re bound to pass an aisle of discounted items. While it may take some digging, you’ll often find some good items at rock-bottom prices, especially if you’re looking for craft projects to keep your kids busy or seasonal items for a season that just passed.

16. Sign up for free kids classes.
Kids can work on projects that they can take home with them. Plus, you’ll getting free babysitting while you shop. Prices range from free up to $25.

17. Buy discounted gift cards.
Check out sites like Raise.com to purchase Michaels gift cards at a discounted price.
