AT HOME
With the warm summer months coming to an end, there’s no denying that we’ll soon be trading our bbq for pumpkin spice lattes.
The upside of the change in seasons are the many sales that you can take advantage of this month, including deals on summer clothing, luggage and smartphones.
Here’s a roundup of particular items that will go on sale in September.
Summer clothing
While you may find a slimmer selection of summer clothing come September, the items that remain are going to be deeply discounted.
School supplies
As the start of the school year arrives, stores are stocked full of school supplies. Once school has started though, the demand goes down and they are left with a huge amount of notebooks, pencils, folders, markers, etc.
Instead of waiting to buy your school supplies a month before school starts, you might as well buy them in September for next year.
Laptops and Computers
Laptops and computers always tend to go on sale in August and September for the back-to-school season. This is a good time to save money on your device, even if you’re not headed back to the classroom.
Air conditioners
Because they’re no longer in demand as summer winds down, air conditioners often go on sale in September. Get one for less this month to beat the last of the summer heat or just be ready for next year.
Lawn equipment
September is really the best time to scoop up lawn equipment, such as leaf blowers wheelbarrows, fertilizer, aerators, mowers, and more.
Patio furniture
As the warm weather starts to disappear, and people spend less time outdoors, patio furniture becomes less and less needed. When something is low in demand, that means that prices drop.
Grills
As the outdoor cooking season draws to a close, retailers will be looking to make room in their warehouses. And with a few months left until it’s too cold to barbecue often (at least in some parts of the country), you might as well make the most of the fall grilling season. So whether you want a new charcoal, gas, pellet, or kamado grill, keep an eye out for sales this month.
Small kitchen appliances
People will most likely be spending a little more time in their kitchens as the winter holidays approach. Because of this, small kitchen appliances like stand mixers, toaster ovens, blenders, and air fryers tend to be included in sales.
Large Kitchen Appliances
Freezers
Prices for stand-alone freezers tend to dip a few times a year including September. If you’re in the market to add a freezer to your home, you can choose between a chest freezer or an upright freezer, depending on your space and needs.
Wall Ovens
If you’re considering upgrading to a wall oven, which offers lots of flexibility that you won’t find in a range, the model you want may be available at significant discount this month. Because most wall ovens are electric, they can be installed on just about any wall in your kitchen and at any height, so you won’t have to bend over when pulling out hot, heavy dishes.
Cooktops
If you’re remodeling, a new cooktop can be perfect for your kitchen island, especially if you plan to install an in-wall oven. Cooktops tend to drop in price around Labor Day and into mid-September at least, making this month a great time to buy.
Bicycles
Many people use bikes year-round, but there’s less demand when the weather cools down, so outdoor retailers discount these items to clear the shelves for winter gear.
Airfare
The perfect time to get great deals on flights is about 8 weeks before your fly-out date. September is the best time to start planning for traveling for Thanksgiving or even Christmas.
Luggage
As the summer travel season winds down, so does the demand for luggage. In response, retailers often drop prices this month to move inventory that hasn’t sold yet.
Cars
Car companies begin to release their new models in September for the upcoming year. That means the old models will go on sale.
Air Purifiers
Seasonal allergies can hit hard when the weather changes from summer to fall. If you’re sensitive to this shift, an air purifier may be a smart investment since they typically go on sale around this month.
