    Homemade Hamburger Helper

    This Homemade Hamburger Helper is as easy to make as the store bought stuff but much healthier! A simple weeknight meal  your whole family will love!

    Homemade Hamburger Helper

    Prep Time: 5 minutes

    Cook Time: 20 minutes

    Total Time: 25 minutes

    Servings: 6 servings


    Ingredients

    1 pound lean ground beef

    1 small onion, finely chopped

    1 teaspoon paprika

    1 teaspoon dried parsley

    1 teaspoon garlic powder

    pinch to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder, to taste

    salt and pepper, to taste

    1-1/2 cups beef broth

    2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked

    1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce

    1-1/2 cups whole milk

    2 cups shredded cheddar cheese


    Directions

       In a large skillet, over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion until beef has browned and no longer pink. Drain any fat. Stir in paprika, parsley, garlic powder, cayenne powder, salt and pepper.

       Stir in the broth, macaroni and tomato sauce. Cover and reduce heat to a simmer. Stir in the milk. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until pasta is tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Enjoy!


    Notes: If using whole wheat elbow pasta you may need to add more liquid while cooking.

    Storage: Leftovers of this Hamburger Helper will keep in the fridge for 3-4 days in an airtight container.
