Easy American Goulash
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 8 Servings
2 cups elbow macaroni (about 8 oz.)
1 pound ground beef
1 small onion, diced
1 cup bell peppers, any color, seeded and diced
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-3/4 cups beef broth or water or as needed
1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 (14.5 oz.) can petite diced tomatoes or crushed tomatoes for smoother sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt, or more or less to taste
1/2 cup cheddar cheese, freshly shredded, optional
Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, onion, and bell pepper and cook until beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat and return pot to stovetop. Add in garlic and cook for 30 seconds or until fragrant.
Pour in the beef broth (or water), tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, olive oil, pasta noodles, and salt to taste. Stir and bring mixture to a boil. Reduce heat to a light boil and stir occasionally until the pasta is tender, about 20 minutes.
Stir in the cheddar cheese just before serving, if desired. Enjoy!
