5 Ingredient Crockpot Recipes
Crockpot Root Beer Barbecue Chicken
Slow Cooker Root Beer BBQ Chicken is an easy weeknight meal or party food made with root beer, barbecue sauce. Perfect for sandwiches, tacos & more.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 3 hours 30 minutes
Total Time: 3 hours 35 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
4 large boneless skinless chicken breasts, fresh or thawed
1 (18 ounce) bottle Sweet Baby Ray’s honey barbecue sauce
6 ounces (1/2 of a 12 ounce can) root beer
Directions
Cook chicken in crockpot on HIGH for 3 hours or LOW for 6 hours.
After 3 hours on HIGH or 6 hours on LOW, drain juices from crockpot. (Draining juices will result in a thicker more flavorful sauce.)
Optional: Remove chicken from crockpot, shred with 2 forks and place back in crockpot.
Mix together BBQ sauce and root beer in small bowl.
Pour mixture over chicken, and cook on high for 30 more minutes, or until done.
Enjoy!
Notes: There is no need to add water to the crockpot as the chicken will release it's own juices. If you do add water, make sure to drain the juices as per instructions.
